Spotify Camp Nou proposed as top venue for 2030 World Cup final

Berni Álvarez, Catalonia’s Secretary for Sport, has identified the Spotify Camp Nou as the premier venue for the 2030 FIFA World Cup final. Speaking to Catalunya Ràdio, Álvarez stated that his position is based on realism rather than optimism, citing the coordinated preparations between the club, the Barcelona City Council, and local institutions.

The 2030 tournament will be hosted jointly by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. While the host nations are confirmed, FIFA has not yet designated the specific stadium for the final match. Competition for the fixture is significant; Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan federation, has expressed interest in hosting the final at the Hassan II stadium in Casablanca.

Within Spain, the modernized Spotify Camp Nou is expected to have the largest seating capacity starting in 2028, potentially giving it an advantage over other contenders like the Bernabéu, which may not meet all of FIFA's specific capacity requirements for a final. Álvarez noted that while local preparations are strong, the final decision involves political factors beyond local control.
