Spotify expands into audiobook markets and enterprise software
Spotify is executing a dual-track expansion strategy by diversifying its revenue streams through both consumer content and enterprise software.
On the consumer side, the company is significantly scaling its audiobook service. Spotify plans to deploy its audiobook offering in over 180 countries by the end of the year, a major increase from its current presence in approximately 20 countries. This expansion aims to reach 750 million users, offering a catalog of over 350,000 titles in more than 120 languages. The company reported a 40% annual increase in monthly audiobook listeners and has seen its 'Audiobook+' subscription model attract over one million subscribers, generating approximately 100 million euros in revenue.
Simultaneously, Spotify is formalizing its presence in the enterprise software market. The company is commercializing internal development tools that were previously used only by its own engineering teams. Through the launch of technology.spotify.com, the company is now offering professional versions of tools such as the Backstage framework, the Confidence software experimentation platform, Portal, and Xirp, an AI-assisted coding agent management tool.
