Sprang-Capelle fire brigade extinguishes plastic blaze at bike bridge

On Thursday 30 July, the Sprang‑Capelle fire department responded to an outdoor fire on the bike bridge at Gaardpad. A passerby reported a piece of plastic burning in the verge, prompting a rapid deployment of firefighters. The blaze was contained quickly, preventing damage to surrounding vegetation.

The incident is noted as the second fire at the same location; a previous incident required fire‑brigade action for a similar berm fire. Authorities have not disclosed how the plastic came to be on the verge, and no further investigation is planned.
