Spremberg begins infrastructure construction in Färberquartier
Construction has begun on a new road and infrastructure project in the Färberquartier district of Spremberg. The project involves building a fourth roundabout arm, spanning approximately 160 meters, to connect the roundabout at the police station to the Bahnhofstraße/Jägerstraße junction.
In addition to the 6.50-meter-wide asphalt roadway, the project includes new sidewalks, parking spaces, and four traffic islands to facilitate safe crossings. Subsurface work is also a major component, involving the expansion of electricity and district heating supplies, as well as the replacement of drinking, sewage, and rainwater pipes.
The initiative is a joint effort between the city of Spremberg/Grodk, the Spremberg Water and Wastewater Association, and the Spremberg Municipal Utilities. Preparatory work started on September 10, with an official groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for October 7. The project is expected to be completed by May 2027. During construction, certain pedestrian and cycle paths will be fully closed, requiring detours.
