Springbok Women defeat Spain 20-0 to end European tour
The Springbok Women concluded their European tour with a 20-0 shutout victory against Spain in Seville. The South African side secured the win through three tries scored by Catha Jacobs, Aseza Hele, and Jakkie Cilliers. Cilliers also contributed a conversion and a penalty kick to the final score.
Despite the victory, the match saw injury concerns as captain Babalwa Latsha left the field with an ankle injury, followed by Nombuyekezo Mdliki being carried off on a stretcher. Co-coach Franzel September praised the team's defensive discipline, noting their success in disrupting Spain's attack and avoiding disciplinary sanctions like yellow or red cards.
This win follows a mixed tour for South Africa, which included a 41-29 victory over Italy and a 50-19 loss to Wales. The team is now preparing for two upcoming Test matches against Ireland, scheduled for October 24 and 31.
