Springboks defeat All Blacks 29-24 to lead rugby series

The Springboks defeated the All Blacks 29-24 in the third Test of the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series at FNB Stadium in Soweto, taking a 2-1 lead in the four-match tour. South Africa utilized their forward power and dominant set-pieces, including a crucial driving maul that resulted in a try for Malcolm Marx, to overcome a New Zealand side that led early in the second half.

The match was marked by significant injuries to key players. South African winger Cheslin Kolbe suffered a broken jaw, while New Zealand captain Ardie Savea sustained a shoulder injury that has ruled him out of the series finale. Despite the loss, the All Blacks retain the opportunity to secure a series draw in the final Test scheduled for next Saturday in Baltimore, USA.

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi noted the emotional significance of playing in Soweto, emphasizing the importance of honoring the region's history. All Blacks coach Dave Rennie expressed frustration over errors and the loss of Savea, noting that the team must now prepare for the final clash in the United States.
