Springfield hosts residential hazardous waste collection event

The Springfield Public Works Department, in partnership with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, is hosting a residential household hazardous waste collection event. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chamberlain Park, located at 319 McCreery Ave.

This event is open to all Illinois residents, but participation is limited to residential households; businesses and organizations are ineligible. To participate, residents must obtain a voucher from the Springfield Public Works Department in advance. Vouchers are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and must be presented in print or on a mobile device upon arrival.

Participants are instructed to arrive only during their predetermined collection times and enter via Adams Street. Vehicles will exit onto McCreery Avenue. Materials cannot be dropped off without a valid voucher.
