Sprinter Sam Blaskowski removed from club over past racist posts

American sprinter Sam Blaskowski has been removed from the Florida-based Star Athletics club following the resurfacing of racist social media posts from approximately seven years ago. Blaskowski, who was 16 at the time, issued an apology on Instagram, stating, “There are no excuses for using this type of language. I take full responsibility for what I shared, and I sincerely apologize for using those words. I am ashamed and embarrassed of myself.”

Star Athletics confirmed the decision to part ways with the athlete, emphasizing that the organization does not tolerate racism, discrimination, or harassment, and maintains values of inclusivity and respect.

Blaskowski, a descendant of Polish immigrants, has expressed a strong desire to represent Poland in international competition. The Polish Athletic Association has indicated support for his intention. The 23-year-old sprinter, who recorded a 100-meter time of 9.89 seconds in May, is currently in the process of seeking Polish citizenship.
