Sprinter Sam Blaskowski seeks to represent Poland

American sprinter Sam Blaskowski has expressed a strong desire to represent Poland in international competitions. Blaskowski, a 24-year-old athlete, has achieved significant athletic milestones, including a 100m time of 9.89 seconds—the ninth-best result in the world this year—and a 200m time of 19.93 seconds.

Blaskowski traces his ancestry to Polish emigrants, specifically his great-grandparents Franciszek and Julian, who left the Sompolno area near Konin in 1905. To facilitate his transition to representing Poland, efforts are underway to document his family roots and secure citizenship. Polish sprint coach Piotr Maruszewski has been involved in the process with authorization from PZLA President Sebastian Chmara.

Blaskowski has stated his ambition to win medals for Poland and aims to become the first Polish sprinter to break the 10-second barrier in his debut for the national team. He has also addressed Karol Nawrocki regarding his intentions to help make Poland a premier sprinting nation.
