SpVgg Unterhaching faces financial crisis amid regional league victory

SpVgg Unterhaching is facing both sporting success and significant financial scrutiny. On the pitch, the club secured a decisive 3-0 home victory in the Regionalliga Bayern against FC Augsburg U23, driven by an early goal from Moritz Müller and strong performance in the first half.

However, reports from the Süddeutsche Zeitung indicate the club is struggling with economic instability. More than 15 employees reportedly left the club after not receiving salaries for several months. President Manfred Schwabl acknowledged that while the financial situation was tense, particularly in the spring, he expects to settle outstanding claims during the autumn, contingent on incoming payments. The club had previously declined to participate in promotion playoffs for the 3. Liga due to financial constraints, aiming for a return to professional football by the 2027/28 season.
