B.C. Highway Patrol excessive speeding electric motorcycle police pursuit vehicle impound

B.C. Highway Patrol has reported two separate traffic incidents involving speeding and fleeing from law enforcement in British Columbia.

In North Vancouver, police are searching for a young male, aged 14 to 18, who fled on an electric motorcycle after running a stop sign on Grand Boulevard. Sgt. Michael McLaughlin noted an increase in young riders attempting to bait police into pursuits using electric motorcycles that often lack signal lights or pedals.

Separately, on the Sea to Sky Highway near Porteau Cove, a 65-year-old Squamish taxi driver had their vehicle impounded after being clocked traveling 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver faces a $368 fine, a seven-day vehicle impoundment, and significant insurance premium increases. The passenger in the vehicle had reportedly just lost their own vehicle to a similar speeding impound.
