Square Enix adds a new job system to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and hints at future projects
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will introduce the W.E.A.R. system, a job mechanic linked to character outfits. Players can equip different costumes to unlock classic Final Fantasy jobs, giving each hero up to four roles and a total of as many as 32 jobs across the roster. The system is available early in the game and is intended to deepen combat strategy without overwhelming the existing Materia system.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed the game’s upcoming spring 2027 release and its aftermath. He ruled out a remake of Final Fantasy 6, stating it would likely be better handled by another creator at Square Enix. Hamaguchi said his next creative effort will remain a large‑scale JRPG, though he did not reveal whether it will be a new IP or another entry in the Final Fantasy series.
