Square Enix aims for higher quality on Switch 2 with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation
Square Enix director Naoki Hamaguchi has discussed the development approach for ‘Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’ regarding its performance on the Nintendo Switch 2. Hamaguchi noted that the team intends to achieve a higher level of graphical quality and presentation for the new title than was seen in ‘Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’.
To manage the technical challenges of developing for the Switch 2 alongside other platforms, the team is utilizing technical knowledge gained from the Switch 2 port of ‘Rebirth’. Hamaguchi stated that the experience of importing ‘Rebirth’ was key to ensuring they do not have to start from scratch when optimizing for the new hardware.
‘Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’ is expected to conclude the current trilogy, with a scheduled release date of April 8, 2027. The title is described as being larger in both size and scope than its predecessors.
