Square Enix reveals details for Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Square Enix has revealed several key details regarding Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. During a panel at PAX West 2026, director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo outlined a long-term strategy to evolve the franchise into a lasting intellectual property that attracts new fans for decades.

Gameplay updates include the introduction of the FITS (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear) system, which allows characters to adopt specialized roles such as Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. The upcoming title will also feature characters Cid and Vincent, with unique combat styles tailored to their abilities. Developers emphasized that they want players to experience the story's climax personally rather than through external explanations.

Regarding distribution, physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will require an internet connection to download additional data. For the Nintendo Switch 2, the physical version will be provided as a Game-Key Card, necessitating a full digital download of approximately 130 GB. The game is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
