Square Enix announces Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy half-anniversary update

Square Enix has announced a half-anniversary update for Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, scheduled to begin following maintenance on August 25, 2026. The update introduces Bartz Klauser, the protagonist from Final Fantasy V, as a limited-time melee character who utilizes the Wind element. Players can unlock Bartz through seasonal rewards.

Key features of the update include a new boss battle featuring Gilgamesh, new Ultra Rare (UR) abilities such as Dragon Cross-Slash and Rapid Twin Thundaga Spellblade, and up to 200 free Ability Draws. The seasonal content, titled “Guided by the Wind,” will run through September 28, 2026.

Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is a competitive auto-battler set in modern-day Tokyo, featuring cooperative, PvP, and PvE gameplay modes. Players assemble teams of three characters to battle monsters and purify crystals to defeat bosses.
