Final Fantasy 7 Revelation to feature two story DLCs
Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for the Nintendo Switch 2, will include two story-driven DLC expansions. The first DLC will focus on the character Sephiroth, while the second will center on Vincent and the Turks. These expansions are expected to launch in Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, respectively.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the decision to add these DLCs was a recent development prompted by significant fan and media interest following the game's reveal at Summer Game Fest. While the DLCs aim to provide deeper character insights, Hamaguchi emphasized that the base game provides a complete narrative experience and the expansions will not alter the trilogy's conclusion.
Regarding gameplay, the title will feature enhanced on-screen guidance to assist players in navigating its open-world environment. Developers are also considering customization options for this guidance based on player feedback. Additionally, the game will include an optional auto-leveling system to reduce the need for traditional JRPG grinding. Hamaguchi also noted that the game's platinum trophy is expected to be more attainable than that of its predecessor, Rebirth.
