Square Enix announces Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary trading card collection

Square Enix has announced the launch of a new trading card series titled ‘Square Enix Gallery Cards’. The first installment, the ‘Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Collection’, is scheduled for release on January 8, 2027.

The collection features 180 different cards based on 97 unique illustrations, depicting iconic characters and scenes from the Final Fantasy franchise. The packaging will feature a special illustration of Y'shtola from Final Fantasy XIV.

Specialized card types include the ‘Ultima Legend Rare Card’ (UTL), which features a digital signature from Yoshitaka Amano and a serial number, and ‘Harmonic Rare Cards’ (HR), which contain NFC technology allowing users to link to music via compatible devices. Other varieties include ‘Phantom Legend Rare Cards’ (PTL) utilizing advanced hologram printing techniques.

Pre-orders began on September 10 via the Square Enix e-STORE. Individual packs are priced at 550 yen, while a box of 10 packs is priced at 5,500 yen. The products will also be showcased at the Square Enix Shop booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026 at Makuhari Messe.
