Square Enix announces Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, an open‑world finale slated for Spring 2027

Square Enix revealed the final installment of its Final Fantasy VII remake series, titled Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, during the Summer Game Fest 2026. The game expands the story with a large open world, new transport options such as the Highwind airship and parachutes, and adds playable characters Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine, the latter voiced by Matt Mercer.

The studio confirmed the title will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027. Responding to player feedback, Square Enix said it will not cut the original’s many mini‑games but will allow players to skip them without penalty, keeping the experience faithful to the 1997 classic while offering optional rewards for combat‑focused play.
