Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Resonance for 2026

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy Resonance, the first title in the Final Fantasy series to utilize HD-2D technology. The game is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Resonance features a strategic turn-based battle system that includes a stagger mechanic and powerful Resonance attacks. Players can build parties using Visions, which are echoes of beloved characters from across the franchise, allowing for deep customization. The game incorporates classic elements such as airships, crystals, espers, and moogles.

The visual style combines detailed pixel characters with three-dimensional environments, utilizing modern lighting and dynamic camera angles to create a cinematic experience. Yoshitaka Amano has provided the logo illustration for the project.
