Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Resonance demo and TGS 2026 lineup
Square Enix has announced a major lineup for the Tokyo Game Show 2026, headlined by several Final Fantasy titles. A free playable demo for Final Fantasy Resonance is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The demo covers the entire first chapter, providing approximately three to five hours of gameplay, with save data that can be transferred to the full game upon its release on October 22, 2026.
Final Fantasy Resonance utilizes an HD-2D art style and features a return to traditional turn-based combat. A new trailer confirmed that the character Sephiroth will appear as a special challenge for players to unlock exclusive rewards. The game is a reconstruction of the first narrative arc from the mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.
Additionally, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. A playable demo for Revelation will be available at the Tokyo Game Show. The company is also showcasing content related to Final Fantasy XIV at the event.
