Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Resonance for Switch

Square Enix is preparing to release Final Fantasy Resonance, the first title in the franchise to utilize HD-2D graphics. The game is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026, for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

The gameplay features a strategic turn-based battle system where players utilize a mechanic called ‘Visions.’ These are equippable items that allow players to harness the skills and abilities of legendary characters from the franchise’s history, such as Cloud, Terra, and Odin, without directly controlling them.

The narrative follows characters Rain, Lasswell, and Fina as they attempt to protect Crystals from a mysterious threat. The game incorporates classic elements including airships, espers, and moogles, presented through cinematic pixel art and dynamic camera angles.
