Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Resonance release date and details

Square Enix has announced details for Final Fantasy Resonance, the first title in the franchise to utilize the HD-2D visual style, which combines pixel art with modern lighting and depth effects. The game is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026, across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The game's narrative builds upon elements of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, following characters Rain, Lasswell, and Fina. Square Enix estimates that the main campaign will take between 30 and 40 hours to complete, excluding optional content such as secret dungeons and side quests. The developer noted that while the game features series cameos, the characters possess individual stories designed to be accessible even to players unfamiliar with the broader saga.

Pricing for the US market has been set at $49.99 for the Standard Edition, $59.99 for the Digital Deluxe, and $209.99 for the Collector's Edition. Players who have participated in the official demo will be able to carry their progress over to the final version of the game.
