Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy VII Revelation for Spring 2027

Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the FFVII remake trilogy, will launch in spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed at a Shanghai Q&A that the game will incorporate characters from the series' spin‑off titles such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core, and highlighted a key emotional scene in which Cloud reflects on his identity, a moment that repeatedly moved the director to tears.

In a later interview, Hamaguchi said he intends to step away from further FFVII remakes after Revelation, planning to work on a new JRPG for Square Enix rather than another remake, though he left open the possibility of exploring other IPs within the Final Fantasy universe.
