Square Enix announces Kingdom Hearts IV for late 2027

Square Enix has announced that Kingdom Hearts IV is scheduled for release in late 2027. The announcement, made during a D23 presentation, confirms the title will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the successor to the Nintendo Switch.

A new trailer revealed that the game will feature a world inspired by the Pixar film ‘Coco’, incorporating Mexican Día de Muertos traditions. Players will be able to control Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, while the story follows Sora in the mysterious city of Quadratum.

In addition to the game, an original Kingdom Hearts animated series is in development for Disney+, with Tetsuya Nomura involved in production. Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to release on April 8, 2027, marking a major year for the company's flagship franchises.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura and co-director Tai Yasue addressed speculation regarding potential delays, stating that development is on schedule and they are confident in the late 2027 release window.
