Square Enix announces Romancing SaGa 2 remake surpasses 1 million units sold

Square Enix has announced that Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven has exceeded one million units in worldwide shipments and digital sales. This milestone marks the first time a title in the SaGa series has reached the million-seller mark since SaGa Frontier in 1997.

The full 3D remake of the 1993 original launched on October 24, 2024, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It later expanded to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series platforms in 2025. Series director Akihito Kawazu noted that the game's success was driven by positive word-of-mouth following its release, rather than initial pre-order momentum.

To celebrate the achievement, the company released commemorative artwork by main illustrator Yoshiro Ambe and a thank-you video for players. Looking ahead, Square Enix is currently accepting pre-orders for the next franchise remake, Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, which is scheduled for release on February 16, 2027.
