Square Enix announces Yamanote Line mystery game

Square Enix has announced a collaboration with the game ‘Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven’ to launch a location-based mystery solving game titled ‘Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven: Enkan no Nyan-nya Hero powered by Catrip Yamanote Line’. Scheduled for release in early October 2026, the experience is set along the Yamanote Line in Tokyo.

Players will take on the role of an Emperor, starting at Shinjuku Station and traveling to various stations along the loop. The game features a free-scenario format, allowing players to navigate the inner or outer tracks of the Yamanote Line to encounter characters known as the Seven Heroes, who are linked to specific stations. The gameplay is expected to take at least four hours and requires a mystery-solving kit and a smartphone with the LINE app.

Pre-orders are set to begin on September 17, 2026, via the Square Enix e-STORE. The game will be priced at 3,300 yen (including tax) and will be available at NewDays convenience stores located at Yamanote Line stations and through the official online store. Early purchasers may receive one of seven random character stickers as a bonus.
