Square Enix denies AI-generated artwork in Kingdom Hearts Collection

Square Enix responded to fan criticism that the promotional artwork for the Kingdom Hearts Collection I‑III contained visual anomalies, such as a Donald Duck character with mismatched fingers and distorted clock‑tower hands. The company stated that all assets were produced by its development team without the use of generative AI and that the errors resulted from human mistakes. An updated version of the artwork has been released, correcting some of the most obvious flaws while minor inconsistencies remain.

The collection is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 8 October 2026, with the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX also coming to Switch. A future Kingdom Hearts IV title is planned for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
