Square Enix director discusses potential Final Fantasy VII spin-offs

Square Enix director Yoshinori Kitase has indicated that while 'Final Fantasy VII Revelation' is intended to serve as the definitive conclusion to the Remake trilogy, future spin-offs remain a possibility. Kitase noted that the development team is focused on delivering the highest possible quality for the finale to ensure a complete story without cliffhangers.

Drawing parallels to the original 1997 release of 'Final Fantasy VII', Kitase explained that the team initially intended to move on to new projects after the original game's completion. However, the enduring popularity of the characters and fan engagement led to subsequent projects such as 'Crisis Core' and the film 'Advent Children'.

Whether the Remake series sees similar expansions will depend largely on player reception to the characters and the trilogy's conclusion. 'Final Fantasy VII Revelation' is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and PC.
