Square Enix executive discusses potential for cheaper digital PlayStation games

Jacob Navok, a former Director of Business Development at Square Enix, has suggested that a transition to a fully digital ecosystem for PlayStation could potentially lead to lower game prices.

Navok argues that while the loss of physical media might eliminate the competitive pricing often found in the used game market and through retail competition, a new form of competition would emerge. He posits that publishers and developers would still face intense pressure to compete for users' limited time and money within the PlayStation Store. According to Navok, if titles remain too expensive while others offer promotions, consumers will likely choose more affordable alternatives, maintaining downward pressure on prices.
