Square Enix Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth details

Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VII Remake, an enhanced version of the 1997 classic. Originally released for PlayStation 4, the Intergrade version was produced for PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows in 2021. The game features a real-time battle system and follows Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER member, as he joins the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE to destroy Mako reactors operated by the Shinra Electric Power Company.

The episodic sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is part of this multi-part project. While the first installment covers the Midgard section of the original story, Rebirth is designed to expand the gameplay and narrative as characters confront Sephiroth.
