Square Enix outlines new focus and omitted locations in Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation will not include the optional Bone Village area, though locations such as North Wood and the Ancient Temple will remain accessible. The decision follows a similar exclusion of Rocket Town in the preceding title, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Square Enix aims to shift the final installment toward a stronger narrative emphasis, reducing the volume of side‑quests and mini‑games while improving their quality. Hamaguchi said side‑quests will feel more integrated with the main story, and players will be able to skip or adjust mini‑games they find unappealing. The team also hinted at a modernized version of the iconic Snowboard mini‑game, promising better controls and new challenges.

Overall, Revelation seeks to balance expansive exploration with a streamlined experience that encourages progress in the core story without excessive grinding.
