Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy 7 Revelation may require 200 GB of storage

Square Enix director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, is expected to require approximately 200 GB of storage space. Due to this massive file size, even physical disc versions will require additional digital downloads to complete the installation. Hamaguchi stated that the team chose not to compromise on content, graphics, or audio quality just to fit the game onto standard physical media.

The game is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Following the main release, two story-focused DLCs titled ‘Sephiroth’ and ‘Vincent & the Turks’ are planned for release between winter 2027 and spring 2028. While the director declined to confirm if these expansions are prequels, he noted they are intended to provide deep character studies similar to the ‘Intermission’ DLC from previous entries.

Additionally, Square Enix has launched a significant sale on the Nintendo eShop for Switch and Switch 2, featuring various titles including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion, which also saw a surprise release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
