Square Enix releases Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion remaster

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is a remaster of the 2007 prequel to the original Final Fantasy VII. The game follows Zack Fair, a Second Class Soldier working for the Shinra Electric Power Company, as he becomes involved in conflicts over Mako energy and the war against Wutai.

The remaster features updated graphics with refined textures, modern shaders, and dynamic lighting to create more realistic environments and urban architecture. Character models have been improved with finer meshes and more elaborate skeletons to enhance animations and facial expressions. Additionally, the soundtrack has been re-orchestrated to align with the musical style of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Originally exclusive to the PlayStation Portable, the Reunion version is available on various platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, with a version for Switch 2 available since September 2026.
