Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy Resonance trailer

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance ahead of the Tokyo Game Show 2026. The upcoming RPG utilizes an HD-2D visual style, combining pixel art aesthetics with 3D models and dynamic camera angles to create a cinematic experience.

The gameplay features strategic turn-based combat where players can exploit enemy weaknesses to stun them and trigger special Resonance attacks. Players can also utilize Visions, which are echoes of known characters from the franchise that provide unique skills and customization options. The game incorporates classic series elements such as airships, crystals, espers, and moogles.

Additional content includes optional activities and secret areas, such as the Colosseum, the Chamber of Arms, and encounters with characters like Gilgamesh and the Ultima Weapon. Final Fantasy Resonance is scheduled for release on October 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. A playable demo is currently available.
