Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy VII Revelation gameplay at Gamescom

Square Enix has unveiled new gameplay details for Final Fantasy VII Revelation during Gamescom 2026. The game, which serves as the final chapter in the remake trilogy, is scheduled for release in spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The new trailer, titled ‘The Planet’s Crisis’, highlights the return of the Weapons—colossal planetary guardians such as Ruby, Emerald, and Ultima. These entities act as massive threats that do not distinguish between allies and enemies, leading to battles across diverse environments including deserts, aerial combat, and underwater sequences using submarines.

Key gameplay features revealed include the FITS system, which allows characters like Cloud and Tifa to equip unique outfits that grant specialized combat roles and abilities. Exploration is expanded through the use of the Highwind airship, parachutes, grappling hooks, and Chocobos. Additionally, the trailer introduced the new summon Typhon and confirmed that players with save data from Remake Intergrade or Rebirth will receive special Materia bonuses.
