Square Enix reveals new Onigiri Slime for Dragon Quest Monsters 4

Square Enix has introduced a new monster, the ‘Onigiri Slime’, for the upcoming RPG Dragon Quest Monsters 4: The Withered Tree Country - Bianca & Flora. The announcement was made via the official Dragon Quest X account to coincide with August 18, known as ‘Rice Day’ in Japan.

The Onigiri Slime is an E-rank slime-type monster featuring designs based on umeboshi (pickled plum), gomoku (mixed grain), and tenmusu (shrimp tempura) rice balls resting on bamboo leaves. According to official details, these monsters may leave behind a shrimp tempura tail when fleeing if cornered. The announcement also suggested that other rice ball-themed monsters with different ingredients may appear in the game.

Dragon Quest Monsters 4 is scheduled for release on December 3, 2026, for platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
