Square Enix signals Story Expansion Pass for Final Fantasy VII Revelation
A leak of backend data from the Epic Games Store lists a “Story Expansion Pass” and placeholders for up to nine DLC packs for Square Enix’s upcoming title Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The expansion is described as a distinct item, suggesting post‑launch story‑focused content rather than purely cosmetic add‑ons. The game is slated for release in early 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Square Enix has not confirmed the details, but the presence of the pass follows earlier decisions to forego major DLC for the second instalment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, in order to prioritize the trilogy’s conclusion. Developers have hinted that fan demand could drive additional narrative content after launch, and speculation centres on characters such as Vincent Valentine, Zack Fair, and elements from Advent Children or Crisis Core.
Separately, Square Enix announced a novel, “Dear Destiny,” set in the Revelation timeline, to be released in English in the West in spring 2027, expanding the story beyond the game itself.
