Final Fantasy VII Revelation to end remake trilogy in main game, no DLC required

Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, slated for spring 2027 on PC, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, will deliver the complete conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy within the base game. He emphasized that players will not need a post‑launch DLC to see the ending, though any future downloadable content would likely be a spin‑off focusing on a specific character.

Hamaguchi also discussed the possibility of physical editions, noting fan demand for retail copies while acknowledging the industry's shift toward digital sales. He reiterated that the story may stay faithful to the original or take a new direction, and that the series incorporates spin‑offs such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core.

Sales of the earlier remake entries and the Rebirth title have exceeded expectations, with strong performance on PC and in the Chinese market, further fueling anticipation for Revelation.
