Srbija Centar faces defections and voting rights concerns
The political party Srbija Centar (SRCE) is facing internal instability and allegations of voter obstruction ahead of the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections in Serbia.
Three local officials—Dušanka Milosavljević, Bojan Nedeljković, and former official Jelena Živković—have left the party. In an open letter to party president Zdravko Ponoš, they criticized the leadership for ignoring calls to support the Studentska lista and instead choosing to run on the ‘Evropska Srbija’ list. The defectors expressed concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process and the party's direction.
Simultaneously, SRCE has formally questioned the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding voting instructions for citizens living abroad. The party expressed concern that the short window for registration—only 18 working days following the official announcement—limits diaspora participation. SRCE also requested clarification on whether illegal instructions have been issued to diplomatic-consular missions to obstruct the registration process. These concerns were echoed by the Kreni-promeni movement, which reported allegations that Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Dušan Kozarev verbally ordered the obstruction of diaspora polling stations.
