Srce celebrates 25 years of the Higher Education Information System
The University Computing Centre (Srce) has marked the 25th anniversary of the Higher Education Information System (ISVU), a foundational digital infrastructure for Croatian higher education. The project began in 1999 under the Ministry of Science and Technology, with development assigned to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) at the University of Zagreb. The system entered production in 2001.
Since 2011, Srce has managed the full development and software support for the system. ISVU facilitates administrative processes for teaching and studying, allowing students, teachers, and staff to perform tasks remotely. The system currently serves 119 higher education institutions and approximately 140,000 students in Croatia.
Key components include the Studomat module, used extensively by students for administrative tasks. Recent 2025 updates include the introduction of digital final documents for lifelong learning programs, support for new digital certificates, and enhanced survey capabilities. Last year, the system issued over 75,000 electronically signed certificates, and the ISVU REST API processed nearly two billion requests.
