Srednja škola Čapljina faces decline in student enrollment

Srednja škola Čapljina in Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing a significant decline in student enrollment, resulting in the school having no general gymnasium classes for the upcoming academic year. For the first time in its history, the institution will also lack a culinary program due to insufficient interest.

A total of 61 new students have enrolled in the first grade, distributed across five departments: auto mechanics (18), computer technicians in mechanical engineering (14), economists (13), CNC operators (10), and agricultural technicians (6). The total student body has decreased from 291 last year to 270 currently.

School director Marijofil Rupčić acknowledged that this downward trend has persisted for approximately a decade. To address the issue, the school plans to conduct public opinion research to understand why students are choosing other options and to identify ways to make the institution more attractive to future generations.
