Sremska Mitrovica initiates battery storage complex development
The Sremska Mitrovica Assembly has initiated the development of a detailed regulation plan for a large-scale battery energy storage complex near Laćarak. The project is planned to cover approximately 23.37 hectares between the Laćarak and Sremska Mitrovica cadastral municipalities.
The proposed system is expected to have a maximum installed power of 50 MW and a capacity of 120 MWh. It will be connected to the Sremska Mitrovica 2 transformer station at a voltage level of 400/220/110 kV. This technology is designed to store excess electricity in the system and return it to the grid during periods of high demand, which is particularly beneficial for managing the variable output of renewable energy sources.
The plan is being financed by a private investor, and the development of the regulation plan has been entrusted to JPUrbaniizam. The project is intended to be realized within the next two years.
