SRG restructuring removes management status and cuts salaries

SRG Director General Susanne Wille has implemented a restructuring plan that includes removing the official management status for several employees in lower leadership tiers. While these individuals continue to perform leadership roles, they no longer hold management contracts, resulting in reported monthly salary losses of up to 1,000 Swiss francs.

In addition to cutting over 20 percent of top-level management positions compared to 2024, the organization is adopting a dual-leadership model at the fourth management level. Under this system, one person manages content while another manages personnel, meaning many employees will report to two direct supervisors. This new structure has faced criticism regarding its suitability for editorial work and the potential for blurred responsibilities.

Several high-profile editorial leaders are also stepping down, including Susanne Brunner (Foreign Affairs), Jan Baumann (Economy), and Stefan Eiholzer (Domestic). While SRG maintains that the restructuring simplifies the organization by eliminating upper-level positions, the Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals (SSM) has criticized the impact on management employees.
