Sérgio Conceição outlines criteria for next coaching project
Portuguese football manager Sérgio Conceição has detailed the requirements for his next professional role following his departure from Al Ittihad in June. Speaking on the ‘Extra Time’ podcast by the Arabic channel Koora Break, Conceição stated he is seeking an ambitious project that aligns the goals of the club's structure, president, and supporters.
Conceição emphasized his desire to maintain a winning trajectory, noting that he has won titles consistently over the last eight years, with the exception of his recent months at Al Ittihad. He highlighted the importance of a cohesive environment, including the club's leadership and regional ambition, rather than simply becoming another coach in a lineup.
Reflecting on his career, the former FC Porto manager discussed the influence of Belgian, Italian, and Portuguese coaching schools on his methodology. He also expressed pride in the development of former player Vitinha, noting that he integrated the midfielder into the FC Porto first team from the B team to help him develop the intensity and recovery skills necessary for elite football.
