Sérgio Habib, JAC Motors Brazil chief, faces billion‑real debt and evades court orders

Sérgio Habib, president of JAC Motors Brazil and owner of Grupo SHC, is under pressure from creditors over debts approaching R$ 1 billion. He filed for judicial recovery in 2018, with a repayment plan approved in 2019, but creditors say the plan has not been honoured and new liabilities continue to arise.

Creditors have been unable to locate assets in the accounts of Habib or his wife, Sandra Habib, and an execution of a R$ 2.5 million debt has been pending since 2018. The couple’s sale of a 40,000‑square‑metre mansion in Trancoso, Bahia, for R$ 300 million during the execution process is being challenged as fraud‑to‑execution, with lawyers requesting seizure of their driver’s licence and passport.

Despite the legal battles, Habib and Sandra maintain a lavish lifestyle on social media, showcasing international travel and luxury possessions. The communication team of JAC Motors has been dismissed, and the company has not responded to further inquiries.
