Sri Aman air quality reaches very unhealthy levels due to haze

Air quality in Sarawak has reached critical levels due to haze, with Sri Aman recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) of 211, placing it in the ‘very unhealthy’ category. Other areas in Malaysia are also experiencing poor air quality, with 21 locations recording unhealthy API readings between 101 and 200, including Serian, Kuching, and parts of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

In response to the deteriorating conditions, all educational institutions under the Lubok Antu District Education Office have been closed. This closure affects 28 primary schools, involving 2,242 students, and two secondary schools, involving 1,793 students.

Health authorities advise the public, particularly high-risk groups such as children, the elderly, and those with chronic health conditions, to reduce outdoor activities and take necessary precautions to avoid the adverse effects of the haze.
