Sri Lanka and Japan strengthen economic ties and industrial cooperation

Sri Lanka and Japan have intensified bilateral economic cooperation through the fifth working-level meeting of the Sri Lanka–Japan Business Environment Committee. Hosted by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, the meeting provided a platform for Japanese investors to address operational challenges directly with government officials. Key sectors discussed include manufacturing, industrial production, energy, logistics, infrastructure, and health products.

In addition to resolving investor grievances, the two nations are focusing on the development of an export-oriented industrial corridor. This strategic initiative aims to attract foreign direct investment, create employment, and integrate Sri Lanka more deeply into regional and global supply chains. The establishment of a joint working group for this corridor marks a significant milestone in the economic relationship between the two countries.
