Sri Lanka and Thailand Finalize Free Trade Agreement

Sri Lanka and Thailand have concluded a long‑awaited bilateral free trade agreement, aimed at removing tariff barriers and expanding investment flows. The pact is expected to give Sri Lankan exporters easier access for apparel, tea and rubber products to the Thai market and to attract greater Thai investment, while strengthening supply‑chain links between the two economies.

Thailand is simultaneously accelerating other trade negotiations, including efforts to speed up a free‑trade deal with the European Union and the broader push for ASEAN economic integration. The Thai government has kept its policy interest rate at 1% to support economic recovery while pursuing these trade initiatives.
