Sri Lanka and U.S. Navies Complete CARAT‑2026 Joint Maritime Exercise

From July 27 to 30, 2026, the Sri Lanka Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and the United States Coast Guard concluded the CARAT‑2026 naval exercise in the eastern coastal region. The four‑day drill emphasized enhancing operational readiness, professional skills and coordinated response capabilities through a range of activities, including cyber‑security drills, medical operations, swimming and rescue, ship‑boarding, explosive‑ordnance disposal, maritime domain awareness, and handling of venomous snakes.

The exercise aimed to deepen bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States, allowing participants to exchange expertise and improve joint maritime security operations in the Indian Ocean.
