Sri Lanka and England announce squads for upcoming white-ball series

Sri Lanka and England have announced their respective squads for the upcoming white-ball series starting September 15. The tour will consist of three T20I matches followed by three One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that Kusal Mendis and fast bowler Binura Fernando have been ruled out of the T20I series due to injuries sustained during the Lanka Premier League 2026. Mendis is recovering from a hamstring injury, while Fernando is treating a back injury. Consequently, Charith Asalanka will lead the T20I side. Pavan Rathnayake and Dilshan Madushanka have been called up as replacements. Additionally, Dasun Shanaka returns to the ODI squad, and uncapped spinner Sachindu Colombage has earned his maiden call-up.

The England Cricket Board has named Harry Brook as captain for both the T20I and ODI formats. The English squad features debutants Aneurin Donald for the T20Is and Henry Croome for the ODIs. Notable absences from the England side include Phil Salt and Sam Curran due to injury, while Jacob Bethell remains in rehabilitation following knee surgery. Jamie Overton also returns to the squad.
